Damian Helliwell

Damian Helliwell (mandolin and banjo) was born and raised on the remote Island of Eigg, one of the famous Small or ‘Cocktail’ Islands archipelago located about ten miles from the coast of West Lochaber.

Eigg is one of the only places on the planet to have its own electrical grid powered entirely from renewable energy generated on the Island.

Entirely self-taught, Damian joined the band in the spring of 2011 to replace founder member Colm O’Rua. Known to the band from an early age, Damian is not only an outstanding musician but also an exceptional composer of tunes.
