A big night in The Old Fruitmarket with dàimhMÒR : the BIG band!

West Highland supremos Dàimh make a big enough noise as a five-piece, so with their ranks swelled here to 11 – by adding accordion, extra fiddle, trombone, drums, double bass and beat-boxing – they’ll sound positively epic. Custom-made sets for this line-up will feature alongside freshly expanded material from their superb 2014 album Tuneship.

Given the road-miles that Skerryvore clock up, touring extensively each year throughout the UK, Europe and North America, it’s a wonder how this fervently-loved Scottish folk-rock seven-piece find time to write and record new material – but somehow they do, with the latest fruits of their studio labours, Chasing the Sun, arriving to fresh acclaim in autumn 2014.

Featuring 10 new songs from lead singer and guitarist Alec Dalglish, by turns rousingly anthemic and poignantly soul-searching, plus more of their trademark fiery instrumentals, the new record heralds Skerryvore’s 10th anniversary in 2015, with recordings from tonight’s show set to feature on yet another new album celebrating the occasion.
